Installation Instructions: Fore Fuel Filter Bracket

We include fasteners for two mounting methods. We prefer to use rivets, because they are low profile, and easy to use. If you don't have a rivet gun, we also include two M6-1.0 bolts. A different size drill bit will be used depending on the method you go with. Note: A plastic panel must be removed to access this location, the panel can be reinstalled after you have finished plumbing the fuel system and verified there are no leaks.

Hold the bracket up by itself, to the underside of the car. Make note of the sheet metal edge the bracket can be indexed off of in the first picture. Also make sure the bracket is flat against the side of the uni-body frame rail like in the next picture.

Once you are confident you have it in place, use a sharpie to mark the mounting holes where we will be drilling. If you have one, highly recommend using a center punch to mark the center of your sharpie marks.

Rivets get a 1/4" drill bit, wallow the holes out a tad so the rivets go in easily, a dab of paint into the hole on the bare sheet metal goes a long way. Paint marker can work for this.

If you are going to be using the M6 bolts, use a 3/16" drill bit, and an M6-1.0 tap, always use oil. This is double layered fairly thick sheet metal, really don't recommend self-tappers, manually tapping for bolts is the move. Once you are done tapping the holes, clean them out with a little solvent to get rid of the oil. Since these don't get removed usually, I also recommend putting a little wet paint into your newly threaded holes right before you run the bolts in. A black paint marker really is nice here. This will ensure everything is still protected.

It can be easier to assemble the insulated clamps, bracket, and filter on the bench. Once you have you holes made, assemble everything while ensuring you have the filter oriented in the proper direction for fuel flow, annotated by an arrow on the filter body. If you need a torque spec, tighten the clamp nuts and the bracket to body bolts to around 100in/lbs.
